Did you know that Ness is a proud member of the ICT Union? If you’re not familiar with the Union or unaware that one of our colleagues is now the chair of the eGeneration group it represents, keep reading.
The mission of the ICT UNION is to be a respected professional organization in the ICT industry, removing barriers to the development of information and communication technologies for the benefit of consumers. The Union strives to be both a partner and a challenger to the Czech government in projects supporting the move towards a European information society, as well as modern state and public administration systems that work efficiently for both citizens and businesses.
Members of the Union include individuals, Czech and multinational companies, universities, and secondary schools focused on information technology — and, of course, Ness.
A major goal of the Union is to advance Czech eGovernment. For instance, the Union played a crucial role in launching data boxes in 2009, contributed to the adoption of public cloud services in the state sector, and was instrumental in pushing the Law on the Right to Digital Services in 2020, which mandates that the state offer its services electronically (with some exceptions).
Under the Union’s auspices, various working groups are formed, including the newly established eGeneration, which brings together 30 of the brightest young talents from leading IT companies.
Our colleague Lukáš Kokoška, project manager in the PC division, who represents Ness in the ICT Union, was elected as the chair of eGeneration. About the group’s mission, Lukáš says:
“We want eGovernment to be simple, useful, and secure for everyone. We recognize that while the state already offers many electronic services, the public often doesn’t know about them or how to use them. Our goal is to focus on educating society about these services.”
Currently, the group is working on election-related initiatives in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior.
