It’s clear that women have a vital place in the right IT company. At Ness, over 30% of our employees are women, a fact that is welcomed not only by our colleagues on projects but also by our customers.
Many women at Ness are working within their areas of expertise on key projects. You’ll find them in the corridors of our headquarters in Prague, and in the offices in Brno and Ostrava. Our strongest Java team is located in Ostrava, working on projects for O2, the state administration, and the Austrian Press Agency (APA). Recently, this team has been collaborating with the non-profit organization Czechitas.
Supporting Women in IT with Czechitas
Czechitas aims to inspire and educate women and girls in IT. In Ostrava, we organized an exclusive event for women and girls focused on Java programming. The all-day workshop was attended by 30 women and girls who are passionate about IT and pursuing it as their career path.
The course was led by our experienced lecturers, Vláďa Kočur, Radek Porazil, and Martin Jurášek. The participants were enthusiastic, motivated, and highly skilled. The event was extremely well-received, and many of the girls expressed interest in continuing with a long-term Java course. As a result, we decided to continue this initiative.
Looking Ahead: Digital Academy in Ostrava
In autumn 2018, we will continue with our Digital Academy in Ostrava. This two-and-a-half-month course will be divided into 18 blocks and will conclude with a full-day hackathon, where students will develop their own projects with guidance from experienced mentors.
We’d like to thank Czechitas for inspiring and educating new talent to enhance diversity and competitiveness in IT. We look forward to more successful events in the future.
