Důvody pro IT outsourcing se mění, zájem o něj mají i menší společnosti

The Reasons for IT Outsourcing Are Changing: Smaller Companies Are Joining the Trend

Prague, December 1, 2021 – The demand for IT outsourcing is on the rise, driven by accelerating digitalization, increased use of enterprise applications, and the growth of remote work. Large and small companies across diverse industries, including telecoms, finance, e-commerce, and manufacturing, are embracing outsourcing. The most common areas for outsourcing include IT support, infrastructure management, and business application operations.

A key driver behind this trend is the shortage of IT professionals in the Czech market. According to data from Ness Czech, a leading system integrator and IT outsourcing provider, this shortage is prompting more companies to seek external IT expertise. Moving forward, outsourcing is expected to focus increasingly on cybersecurity and data management.

Addressing the IT Talent Shortage

The labor market is experiencing a persistent shortage of IT experts, particularly cybersecurity specialists and developers. According to estimates by Grafton Recruitment, there is currently a shortfall of up to 50,000 IT professionals in the Czech Republic. This has led to rapid wage growth in the sector, with IT companies offering not only competitive pay but also better benefits and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

For non-IT companies, attracting talent is a significant challenge. The Czech Statistical Office reports that in 2020, the average gross monthly wage in IT was nearly CZK 62,000, which is CZK 23,000 higher than the national average. IT managers, engineers, and specialists earned an average of CZK 73,645, while technicians and service workers earned CZK 45,552.

“Recruiting scarce IT professionals can be a financial burden for non-IT companies, many of whom are taken aback by the competitive labor market and salary expectations,” explains Jiří Zouhar, Segment Delivery Manager at Ness Czech.

Changing Motivations for IT Outsourcing

The reasons behind IT outsourcing have evolved over time. While cost reduction and process efficiency were once the primary motivators, today’s outsourcing decisions are heavily influenced by the shortage of IT talent.

“The focus has shifted. Access to specialized knowledge and replacing missing human resources are now more significant factors than traditional cost-related reasons,” says Zouhar.

These factors include:

  • Access to specific expertise and technologies.
  • Flexibility to dynamically scale resources based on project needs.
  • Transferring operational risks to an external provider.

Outsourcing providers like Ness Czech often have additional capacity and can respond more flexibly to labor market demands. “This allows companies to outsource areas where they face the greatest challenges in finding specialists, while dynamically adjusting team sizes based on immediate project requirements,” adds Zouhar.

The Future of IT Outsourcing

The outsourcing trend is expected to grow, with companies increasingly prioritizing areas like cybersecurity and data handling. These domains require specialized expertise that many organizations struggle to maintain in-house. Outsourcing not only addresses this gap but also enables businesses to remain competitive in an increasingly technology-driven market.
